
Volleyball Hosts Tennessee Tech in Annual Pink, Alumni Games

MACON, Ga. – Mercer Volleyball is set to host Tennessee Tech on Friday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. in Mercer's annual Pink and Alumni Games.
Mercer Bears
The Bears (9-8, 3-2 SoCon) won their first three matches to kick off SoCon play, but have dropped their past two to ETSU and Samford. Mercer took the first set in their last match against Samford, but dropped the following three to lose in four sets. Despite the loss, the Bears put up a strong offensive performance, with four Bears totaling double-digit kills. Joselynn Sanjurjo led the way with 13 kills while Taylor Timko was right behind her with 12 kills on a .296 hitting percentage. Lara Matta also totaled 12 kills while adding five digs and a block, and freshman Bella Pons had 10 kills on a .304 hitting percentage. Sammi Bergjans and Aubri Martin also continued their strong performances, as Martin totaled 22 digs and six assists while Bergjans had 42 assists, seven digs, six kills, and a service ace.Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles (9-8, 5-0 SoCon) struggled to start their 2026 campaign, dropping seven of their first 10 matches before turning it around and winning six of their last seven, including all of their conference matches. Tennessee Tech has been led by Alayna Pierce, who ranks second in the SoCon with 250 kills and 3.85 kills/set. She also leads the team in service aces with 19. Pierce totaled 20 kills and 11 digs in her last match while adding one block. Ava Schubert is also coming off a strong match, as she recorded 13 kills on a .417 hitting percentage while adding three service aces and a block. Morgan Petelin recorded the Golden Eagles' second double-double of the day, totaling 45 assists and 17 digs while adding four kills and a service ace.Players Mentioned
