
Philp and Scarpa Participate in USTA/ITA Southeast Regionals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mercer men's tennis players Sam Philp and Anderson Scarpa participated in the USTA/ITA Southeast Regionals in Gainesville, Fla., Oct. 15-19.
After falling in the main draw round of 64, both Philp and Scarpa began play in the consolation main draw. Philp registered a win in the round of 32 and the round of 16, advancing to the quarterfinals, where he fell to Ben Wagland (UGA), 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2. Scarpa fell in the round of 32 to Alejandra Valencia (KSU), 6-3, 6-0.
The pair also played a doubles match, falling to Kevin Bondar and Bernard Tefel (Miami), 8-3.
Mercer recently wrapped up fall play, as the Bears hosted the Mercer Gridiron Classic and several players picked up wins.
