
Men's Soccer Blanks ETSU, 3-0

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer University men's soccer team recorded its fourth consecutive shutout against ETSU, this time by a margin of 3-0, on Tuesday night.
TURNING POINT
 Max Poore scored his first goal of the season in the 18th minute to give Mercer a 1-0 lead. Poore slid and kicked the ball in the net after Jordan Duru served it in from the right and Jake Mezei tipped it to Poore. Poore then put the Bears up 2-0 in the 49th minute when he slammed the ball in the net off a rebounded save following his penalty kick. Duru added a goal of his own in the 62nd minute after Kobe Perez played the ball to Jake Mezei, who crossed the ball to Duru for a long score in the left side of the net.
MAN OF THE MATCH
 Max Poore scored two goals on the night, resulting in his first and second goals of the season. Poore led the Bears with four shots, including three on goal. 
STAT OF THE GAME
 Mercer outshot ETSU, 11-9, including a 6-2 shots on goal advantage.
NOTABLES
- Max Poore's two goals give the junior six in his career, including three game-winning scores.
 - Jordan Duru scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season, while dishing out his fourth assist, which is also a team high. Duru now has eight goals and seven assists in his career.
 - Kobe Perez tallied his third assist of the season, while Jake Mezei notched his first two assists this year.
 - Duru and Perez each had two shots for the Bears, including one on goal apiece.
 - Jeremy Booth made two saves in goal en route to his sixth clean sheet of the season.
 - Mercer also led in corner kicks, 3-2.
 - Mercer has now defeated ETSU in each of the last four matches, all of which have been shutouts. Both games last season, as well as the meeting earlier this year were 1-0 decisions.
 - Mercer has now registered its fourth 10-win season under Head Coach Brad Ruzzo. The Bears also hit double-digit wins in 2014 (14-7), 2012 (11-7-2) and 2010 (10-6-1).
 
RECORDS UPDATE
 Mercer improves to 10-6-1 (5-3-1 SoCon), while ETSU moves to 7-6-2 (4-4-1 SoCon).
UP NEXT
 Mercer will close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Furman. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
