Natalie Shiver Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer catcher Natalie Shiver continues weakly honors and has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Thursday.
Shiver batted .444 (4-of-9) with three home runs, four runs and four RBIs in three games to earn SoCon Player of the Week honors earlier this week. The junior catcher had multi-hit games in both Mercer wins in the series against Chattanooga and recorded 13 total bases and a 1.444 slugging percentage in the series.
Shiver opened the series with a walk-off, two-run homer in game one to give Mercer the 5-4 victory. She then hit two more homers in the series finale in her only official at-bats in the game to help Mercer clinch the series.
The native of Leesburg, Ga. holds well over a 3.30 grade point average with a double major in sports business and finance.
