
Natalie Shiver Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

MACON, Ga. – Mercer University junior Natalie Shiver was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Shiver has started 49 of Mercer's games this season, recording a .353 batting average and is second on the team with 10 home runs. The catcher also has a .618 slugging percentage, a .467 on base percentage and has tallied 34 RBIs.
Shiver has been named the SoCon Player of the Week twice this season, in addition to being named the SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week on February 9 and April 30. She has well over a 3.30 GPA as a double major in Sports Business and Finance.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic status.
The Bears are set to face Samford in the SoCon Tournament second round on Thursday, May 7. The game was scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., but has been pushed back due to an earlier game running late.
