
Softball Adds Mcelderry to Signing Class

MACON, Ga. – Head Coaches James and Stephanie DeFeo have announced the addition of pitcher Jill Mcelderry to the Mercer University softball team. Mcelderry is a junior college transfer from the State College of Florida and will be eligible to compete immediately.
The Springhill, Fla., native spent one year with the Manatees, making 23 appearances and 21 starts during the 2015 season. She notched a 15-4 record and pitched 11 complete games en route to a 2.36 ERA.
Mcelderry spent a year with the Tampa Mustangs under head coach Jamie Boynton. Along with fellow Mercer signees Lindsay Boynton and Megan Lane, she helped the Mustangs to a 2014 National Championship.
Additionally, she played for Fivay High School and Coach Greg Bollinger for four years, earning first-team all-conference honors. During her senior year, Mcelderry tallied 246 strikeouts, which ranked her fifth nationally and second in Florida.
Mercer is coming off a 37-22 season, which ended after the Bears' second-straight appearance in the conference championship game. The Orange and Black boasted the SoCon Pitcher of the Year as well as five all-conference recognitions.
