Mercer Enters Receiving Votes Category in Latest NSCAA Poll
10/26/2016 6:31:00 PM | Men's Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After winning six of its last seven matches and maintaining its position atop the Southern Conference tables Mercer began receiving votes in the latest men's soccer national rankings as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) this week.
Mercer, who is now 12-5 (7-2 SoCon) after a 1-0 victory last night at Furman, received one vote and is the only Southern Conference team to receive a vote in the organization's ninth poll of the season. No other soccer teams from the state of Georgia received a vote.
The Bears host ETSU Saturday in the regular season finale with the winner claiming the 2016 Southern Conference regular season championship. With a one-point advantage over the Bucs in the SoCon tables entering this weekend's match, a draw would also clinch the regular season title for Mercer.
Saturday's match, set to begin at 7 p.m. at Bear Field, will feature the top two teams in the SoCon this season. Free t-shirts will be given away and the match will be carried live on ESPN3.
