
Women's Lacrosse Falls to Furman, 12-3

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Mercer University women's lacrosse team fell to Furman, 12-3, in the final game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon. The Bears have locked up the No. 5 seed in the A-Sun Tournament next week.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Furman took control of the game early, surging to a 7-0 lead in the first half. Mercer scored the final goal of the opening period to move the score to 7-1 before halftime. The Paladins came out strong in the second half as well, netting four unanswered goals to take an 11-1 lead with 15:07 to play. Haleigh Brooks halted the Paladins' momentum when she found the back of the net with 9:48 to play and moved the score to 11-2. Another goal for each team made the final score 12-3.

- Haleigh Brooks scored a goal and added two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.
- Kate Christian notched a goal, two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Kelly Hagerty also scored a goal for the Bears and also grabbed a draw control.
- Anna Schneeberger registered an assist for Mercer.
- Meghan Segreti tallied a career-high-tying seven draw controls.
- Audrey Allen recorded three ground balls, while Audrey Robertson had two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Haleigh Wurzel spent most of the game in goal for the Bears, making five saves. Michele Holmes and Dylan Malamala also recorded time in the cage.
- Mercer dominated Furman in the circle, leading 13-4 in draw controls.
The Paladins outshot the Bears, 23-15, and led in ground balls, 22-15.
RECORDS UPDATE
Mercer moves to 7-10 overall and 4-4 in Atlantic Sun play, while Furman is now 11-6 on the season and 6-2 in league games.
UP NEXT
Mercer earned the No. 5 seed in the A-Sun Tournament and will face fourth-seeded Detroit on Thursday, May 5 in Kennesaw, Ga.
