MACON, Ga. – The Mercer football program released its 2016 broadcast schedule for home games on Monday, which included three broadcasts on FOX Sports Southeast.
Â
Mercer will have three of its home football contests broadcast live on FOX Sports Southeast, the most linear television games in program history. Mercer is one of the first universities to self-produce a FOX Sports broadcast for football. The other two games will air live on ESPN3.
Â
"We're excited about the opportunity to have the majority of our home games broadcast on linear television this season," said Associate Athletics Director for External Operations Daniel Tate. "This is a testament to the growth of our brand and the great work that Lisa Cherry and her broadcast team do each week."
Â
The Bears' 7 p.m. season opener against The Citadel on Thursday, Sept. 1 will air on FOX Sports Southeast along with the final two home contests of the season against ETSU (Nov. 5) and Furman (Nov. 19). All three games will also air on ESPN3 but will be blacked out in the FOX Sports Southeast markets.
Â
Fox Sports Southeast is available on cable providers throughout Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and parts of North Carolina (roughly from Asheville to Charlotte); it is also available nationwide on satellite via DirecTV and Dish Network. The channel's programming reaches an estimated 8.9 million cable and satellite subscribers.
Â
The Orange and Black's home games against Tennessee Tech (Sept. 17) and Western Carolina (Oct. 15) will air on ESPN3. Times for kickoffs will be announced at a later date.
Â
ESPN3 is available in approximately 75 million homes to fans who receive their Internet connection from an affiliated service provider. The network is also available at no cost to 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel. ESPN3 programming is also available to subscribers through Xbox LIVE and through the free WatchESPN app available on smartphones and tablets. The WatchESPN app is also available through Apple TV and Roku video players.
