Mercer Falls in Overtime at Presbyterian, 1-0

CLINTON, S.C. – Four different players registered five shots on goal for Mercer Wednesday night and an otherwise laudable performance by goalkeeper Jeremy Booth was marred by conceding a goal in the 93rd minute as the Bears fell, 1-0, in overtime at Presbyterian.
For the Bears (5-3) it marked the fourth time in five matches that one goal decided the outcome. In all Mercer registered 15 shots in the match but were limited after being whistled for nine fouls and the only offsides call of the match.
Presbyterian (2-6) held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Early in the overtime period Presbyterian's Cade Crow launched the ball towards Mason Lewis on a throw in, allowing Lewis to send the only shot of the evening that would find the back of the net.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Mercer's 15 shots overall were the most since the team's Sept. 4 match against Gardner-Webb in the SoCon-Big South Challenge.
NOTABLES
Having now wrapped up non-confernece play, Mercer will turn its attention to Southern Conference opponents when it hosts Wofford on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at Bear Field. That match will be broadcast on ESPN3.
