On the Road Again
Mercer finished 20-8 in road contests over the last two seasons under Head Coach Susie Gardner. The travel does not seem to faze the Bears as Mercer picked up where it left off last season with a road victory on Friday night over UCF.

Bears Ranked No. 15 in Mid-Major Preseason Poll
The Bears were voted No. 15 in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 Preseason Poll. Mercer joins No. 22 Chattanooga as the only two SoCon teams to be ranked in the preseason poll, which is made up of head coaches from 31 mid-major

Gardner at Mercer
Susie Gardner is in her eighth season at the helm of the Mercer Bears. Gardner has led the Bears to a 115- 107 record. Gardner's squads have gone 69-31 over the last three seasons, posting three consecutive 20- plus win seasons.

Roaring Twenties
Mercer finished the 2016-17 season with a 25-7 record marking the third consecutive 20-plus win season. The Bears have recorded at least 20 wins in four of the last five seasons. Mercer's 25 wins last season set a program record for the most wins in the NCAA Division I era.

Last Time Out
Mercer opened its season with a strong statement win over UCF, 73-64. The Bears claimed the 5-4 advantage and never looked back en route to the nine-point victory. Mercer built its lead to a game-high 24 points on two occasions. Kahlia Lawrence finished the game with a game-high 26 points for Mercer, knocking down 10 shots from the field. KeKe Calloway added 16 points, including burying five triples in the process. Sydni Means etched her fourth career double-double on 15 points and 12 assists.

Series History
The Bears are 21-14 all-time against the Owls heading into the 36th meeting. The two foes met last season in Hawkins Arena with the Bears clipping the Owls, 74-57. Lawrence finished the contest with 34 points on 15-29 shooting from the field. Means added a 14-point, eight-assist performance for the Bears in the rout over Florida Atlantic.

Owl Vision
Florida Atlantic is under the new direction of head coach, Jim Jabir. Jabir inherits a young program that saw only six of its 13 players record stats last season. The Owls proved to be accurate from beyond the arc, finishing in the top third of the NCAA in triples made (195) and threes made per game (6.7) Sasha Cedeno remained FAU's leading scorer for the majority of the season, averaging 9.8 points per game overall. The junior had a team-leading 23 steals on the year and 49 3-pointers on 36 percent shooting.
