Four-Run Fifth Inning Pushes Mercer Past Austin Peay

Austin Peay (6-5) took an early lead in the first and twice Mercer (9-3) took a lead or drew even before the Governors would respond and regain the lead. But in the fifth, Hunter Bening would lead off with a solo home run. Two outs later, Danny Edgeworth would hit a solo home run. Following Charlie Madden drawing a hit by pitch, Conrad Cornell hit a two-run home run.
The Bears would tack on single runs in three of the next four innings while holding the Govs scoreless to close out the game.

Conrad Cornell went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored with his lone hit going for a home run. He also drew a walk in the game.
