Mercer Hosts Bradley as OrthoGeorgia Park Fully Opens
3/9/2017 3:36:00 PM | Baseball
MACON, Ga. – The Bears are back in town starting Friday and the gates of the park will be fully opened when Mercer hosts Bradley at 6 p.m. at OrthoGeorgia Park.
Mercer (11-3) will once again welcome fans inside OrthoGeorgia Park after giving them a sneak preview when the Bears faced Georgia on Feb. 21. Construction crews have been working around the clock to finish construction.
The Orange and Black will need fans packing the park as they look for some long-awaited redemption. This will mark the second time the two teams will face each other as Bradley (3-6) claimed a three-game series in Macon back in 2015.
This weekend's series will also mark the first of 19 regular season games to be broadcast on the Mercer Sports Network via the flagship station 97.3 FM The Bull Icons and on the iHeartRadio app.

Edgeworth Named Player of the Month
Mercer third baseman Danny Edgeworth has been named the Southern Conference Baseball Player of the Month for February after his scorching start to the 2017 campaign.
Edgeworth, a senior from Suwanee, Georgia, batted .538 (14-for-26) with 10 runs scored, 10 RBIs and four extra-base hits to lead the Bears to a 7-1 record in February. He added nine walks to compile a .639 on-base percentage while slugging .846 during the eight-game stretch.
A 4-for-6, three-RBI output against Hartford on Sunday, Feb. 26, highlighted four multi-hit performances by Edgeworth. The senior provided walk-off heroics the day before, connecting for a RBI-single in the bottom of the 10th inning to help Mercer defeat Hartford, 4-3. He led the Bears in batting average, runs scored, hits, total bases, slugging percentage, bases on balls and on-base percentage for the month.
King of the Hill
Mercer enters this weekend's action with a 11-3 mark and remains at the top of the standings in the Southern Conference. While that mark survived a challenge from the SEC (Georgia) and a hot-hitting Hartford team, the Bears dropped two at Florida A&M mid-week before rebounding with a series win at Austin Peay.
