Bears to Fight for ASUN Seeding in Final Weekend

Tournament’s No. 2 seed, first winning record on the line as regular season concludes

MACON, Ga. – Mercer enters the final weekend of the regular season with plenty to play for as it takes on ASUN Conference foes Jacksonville and North Florida at the Coastal Carolina Beach Volleyball Courts in Conway, South Carolina.

The Bears (12-9, 5-2 ASUN) face Jacksonville at 10 a.m. Friday, April 14 before battling North Florida later that day at 2 p.m. and once again at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15. Pending on various results throughout the final weekend of conference play, Mercer has a chance at the ASUN Tournament No. 2 seed, which would be its highest seeding in program history.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville (5-16, 0-7) and North Florida (9-11, 2-4) are among three teams battling for the tournament's final slots. Mercer has clinched an ASUN Tournament berth in all six years as a program.

One win will clinch Mercer's first winning season in program history.
Mercer has defeated Jacksonville in five consecutive matches, including a 5-0 sweep earlier this year in Columbia, South Carolina. The Bears trail Jacksonville, 6-7, in their all-time series.
The Bears have not fared well against UNF in the sand, going 1-11 in the series. Mercer's lone win (3-2) was in March of 2015.
Danielle Faust and Claire Waliczek (13-8) own a team-best 5-2 record in ASUN play.
Tori Penrod and Emily Krogman have a team-best 14 overall wins. Emma and Sophie Peel join them with identical 4-3 ASUN records. Jessica Johnson and Gretja Otten are 4-1 in conference.
