Mercer Women Set to Tee Off at SoCon Championship Sunday

MACON, Ga. – Looking to build momentum off a great finish at the Brickyard Collegiate, Mercer heads to the Southern Conference Championship hoping for a hot start and looking for a strong finish to the season.

Dates: Sunday-Tuesday, April 23-25
Location: Lexington, S.C. | Country Club of Lexington
Course Information: Par-72; 6,153 yards
Format: Tee times beginning at 8 a.m. each day, 18 holes per day

THE FIELD
In women's golf, the Southern Conference has nine of its 10 member institutions that field women's golf programs: Chattanooga, The Citadel, ETSU, Furman, Mercer, Samford, UNCG, Western Carolina and Wofford. Furman, ranked 10th in the country, leads a challenging league that has four teams ranked in the top 100, including the Bears. Mercer ranks fourth in the nine-team league and recently beat ETSU and Chattanooga – two teams ranked higher than the Bears – at the 2017 Brickyard Collegiate.
ROUND ONE PAIRINGS
Mercer will begin tee times on Sunday starting at 8:50 a.m. with threesomes. The Bears will be paired with Samford and UNCG.
SOCON CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
This will mark Mercer's third appearance in the Southern Conference Championship since entering the league. Last year saw a remarkable improvement as the Bears finished fourth, four spots better than the inaugural performance at the league's championship tournament. Mercer is looking for even more improvement this year and will use some new faces to try and make a move as three of the Bears in the lineup will be making their first postseason appearance – Terese Romeo, Lauren Lightfritz and Tiffany Kang.
