Schorr shoots four-under-par final round to pace the Bears
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Mercer junior Stanton Schorr shot a four-under-par 67 in the final round of the Sam Hall Intercollegiate at the Hattiesburg Country Club on Tuesday to finish tied for second place individually while the Bears climbed one spot to finish eighth as a team.

Freshman Lino Galdin, who played as an individual, finished in a four-way tie for fourth place as he carded a one-over-par 72. Mercer shot an even 284 as a team in the third round, which was tied for the second-best team mark with Louisiana on the final day of action.

Mercer's even 284 round three performance pushed the Bears one spot up to eighth place. The Bears finished ahead of Louisiana (+28), Southeastern Louisiana (+34), South Alabama (+35) and New Orleans (+64). Sam Houston State (+5), UT Arlington (+5) and Southern Mississippi (+7) finished atop the team leaderboard.

Mercer on the Individual Leaderboard
Schorr's 67 in round three was the best individual score in the final round of action as he scorched his way into a tie for second place after entering the day tied for 25th. Schorr was tied for the lead with five holes remaining thanks to a four-hole stretch from No. 17-No. 3 that included two birdies and an eagle.

Galdin held the lead with nine holes left and finished as the highest individual player in the field. Tyler Copp, who shot an even 71 Tuesday to move up eight spots, tied with teammates Nolan Miller at 28th. Both Kiko Rosete and Brennan Bogdanovich improved upon Monday's efforts with three-over-par 74 and one-over-par 71 performances.

"We were much improved today as we shot even par for round three," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "Stanton led us with his 67 and our four other scores that counted included 71 from Tyler, 72 from Brennan and 74 from Kiko.

"Plenty of improvement shown, we just have to get off to a better start and we'll be in good shape for upcoming tournaments. I'm proud of the individual efforts by Stanton and Lino all tournament as they flirted with the lead today."

The Bears will quickly return to action with the Inverness Invitational, hosted by Toledo at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. The tournament will be on Sept. 18-19. Mercer departs north on Saturday, Sept. 16 in preparation.

"We will use our solid finish in Hattiesburg as confidence moving into next weekend at Inverness. We'll be facing a highly-ranked field on a PGA Tour-level golf course that will test our ability to get off to a stronger start."
