Mercer Set for Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate in Atlanta

Bears stay in Peach State for first tournament in three weeks
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's golf team will take I-75 North to play in the Louisville-hosted Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Friday through Sunday.

The 54-hole, three-day tournament is Mercer's first competition in over three weeks since the Bears traveled to Columbia, Mo. for the Johnie Imes Invitational. Tee times on all three days will begin at 8:30 a.m. and live scoring will be provided via GolfStat.com.

Mercer will be represented by six golfers, including junior Lauren Lightfritz, who will be playing in her first tournament of the fall season. Seniors Mary Janiga and Terese Romeo have led the Bears so far this fall; both are averaging 74.1 strokes per round.

ABOUT ALEXA STIRLING INTERCOLLEGIATE
This collegiate women's golf championship is named for Alexa Stirling (1897-1977), an American-Canadian amateur golfer and member of the Atlanta Athletic Club. She won the US Women's Amateur in 1916, 1919 and 1920, the Canadian Women's Amateur in 1920 and 1930 and has spots in the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
