Mary Janiga ties for sixth individually
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mercer women's golf team placed fifth at the Johnie Imes Invitational after it shot a third-round 313 (+25) on Wednesday at The Club at Old Hawthorne.

The Bears, who were led by senior Mary Janiga, entered the final round in sole possession of fourth place before falling back to fifth. It was the Bears' top finish of the 2018 fall season. Janiga earned a tie for sixth place and shot 1-over-par over 54 holes.

Mary Janiga and Carol Pyon earned top-20 individual finishes despite the Bears collectively struggled in Wednesday's final round. Janiga, who entered the third round with a share of the clubhouse lead at 6-under-par, shot 79 to finish 1-over-par for the tournament; she tied for sixth place. Pyon snuck into the top 20 with a team-low 75 on Wednesday and finished the tournament at 6-over-par (222).

The Bears will stay inside state lines when they travel to Atlanta for the Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate on Oct. 26-28. The tournament will be played at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
