New 2,160-square-foot video board will be the largest in the Southern Conference
MACON, Ga. – The fan experience at Mercer football games in Five Star Stadium will be significantly improved in 2019 with the addition of a new video board that will rank as the largest in the Southern Conference and among the FCS' largest.
Â
Mercer Athletics Director Jim Cole announced plans on Friday for the installation of a state-of-the-art video board, which will measure 30 feet tall and 72 feet wide (2,160 square feet) and has the ability to show live action and full-screen replays with quality resolution. The new video board will be approximately six times larger than the current board.
Â
Demolition of Mercer's current football video board and installation of the new board will begin mid-December. The board will remain located behind the north end zone of Five Star Stadium. Completion of the board – which will be manufactured by Daktronics – is targeted for 2019.
Â
"Our fans and alumni deserve the best game day experience possible at Five Star Stadium and this video board will strengthen Mercer's ability to provide that," Cole said. "Adding a premium board like this is a game-changer for everyone who attends Mercer football games, as it will help keep Five Star Stadium as one of the top FCS venues in the nation."
Â
Five Star Stadium was recently named one of the top venues in the Football Championship Subdivision and has served as the home of Mercer's football and lacrosse programs since 2013.
