Mercer Lineup Coach Kayden's Take
"We're coming off a much-improved spring season and I'm confident we have five starters who will play well in Pinehurst this week," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "Our goal this week is to win, and in order to do that we will need good scores from all five golfers.
Â
"Three of our upperclassmen have played Pinehurst No. 9 before, which will be a great help to our younger players in the practice round. Winning a conference championship takes five guys that are willing to overcome adversity on the course and control their emotions in competition. I feel strongly that these five guys have what it takes."
Â
About Pinehurst No. 9
This will be the fifth straight year and 11th time overall that the SoCon Men's Golf Championships have been held at Pinehurst No. 9. Jack Nicklaus constructed a masterpiece set amidst the long leaf pines. This 18-hole championship layout features classic Nicklaus architecture: wide fairways, lush course conditions and undulating putting surfaces that test your mind and your true golfing ability.
Â
Each hole has been customized to create a great diversity in the way it can be played. Added to this uniqueness are tall pines, grassy swales, groomed waste areas and a natural variety of lakes and stream beds beautifully fashioned to give No. 9 its own distinctive look.
Â
Sunday's Tee Times & Pairings
Mercer's five golfers will tee off alongside Samford on hole No. 10.
