Mercer Announces 2018 Women’s Soccer Schedule

MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's soccer head coach Tony Economopoulos announced his team's 2018 schedule Friday, revealing a 19-match regular season slate that includes nine home contests and the opportunity to host the Southern Conference Tournament.

The Bears open play Aug. 11 with an exhibition match at home against Georgia Southern. The regular season then kicks off with a pair of home contests on Aug. 17 and Aug. 19 vs. USC-Aiken and Mississippi Valley State, respectively. Mercer begins SoCon action Sept. 21 on the road at Chattanooga. The conference home opener is slated for Sept. 28 against VMI.

Senior Day will be Oct. 21 at home vs. Western Carolina. Mercer will host the semi-final and championship rounds of the SoCon Tournament Nov. 2 and Nov. 4 at Bear Field.

Mercer is coming off of a 10-10-1 record from a year ago, including a 3-5-1 SoCon ledger. Under the direction of Coach Economopoulos, who begins his sixth season at the helm, the Bears return a host of talented performers and welcome a strong recruiting class. Headlining the returnees is rising junior Megan Delmonico, a defender/midfielder who earned second-team All-SoCon honors last season and was a big reason why the Bears posted seven shutouts in 2017. Also returning are a pair of All-SoCon freshman selections – Ally Fordham and Sarah Adcock. Fordham led the squad with 14 total points and a team-best six goals, including two game winners. Adcock tallied nine points with three goals.
