Mercer, Lane Southern Orchards Partner for Corn Maze

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Mercer Athletics department has partnered with Lane Southern Orchards to feature one of Middle Georgia's most recognizable images in the orchards' annual corn maze this fall.

Mercer's athletics logo will serve as the featured design for Lane Southern Orchards' six-acre corn maze, which will be open throughout the month of October.

"We're thrilled to partner with Lane Southern Orchards and their annual corn maze this upcoming October," said Daniel Tate, Mercer Associate Athletics Director. "The corn maze is a hit year after year and this partnership will further strengthen Mercer's ties to the Middle Georgia community as we enter the 2018-19 athletics year."

This marks the 11th year that Lane Southern Orchards has designed a corn maze; past partnerships with the organization include The Allman Brothers Band, Otis Redding, The Children's Hospital and Middle Georgia Buddy Walk.

"Each year when we design our corn maze, we try to feature something that is important to our company family and to everyone in our area," said Mark Sanchez, CEO of Lane Southern Orchards. "Since its founding in 1833, Mercer University has had a significant impact on everyone in Middle Georgia and we are honored to feature Mercer in this year's maze and to recognize the University for its many contributions to our community.

"We are also proud to donate a portion of the proceeds from the corn maze to the Children's Hospital Navicent Health again this year, as we have for the past eight years."

Located five minutes west of I-75 in Fort Valley, Ga., Lane Southern Orchards is home to 6,000 acres of peach orchards, pecan groves and more.
