Romeo Shines, Bears Finish 10th at Mary Fossum Invitational

Mercer women shoot third-round 302 on Sunday
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Senior Terese Romeo jumped five spots to finish tied for 17th overall and Mercer closed out the Mary Fossum Invitational with a final-round 302 (+14) to place 10th at Forest Akers West Golf Course on Sunday.

Mercer finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament at 37-over-par (901) against a talented field that included seven programs that reached the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Romeo was the Bears' top individual finisher with her tie for 17th; she fired a third-round 73 and ended the tournament at +3.

Mercer on Team Leaderboard
The Bears were unable to gain ground on the team leaderboard, finishing 10th overall against a talented field. Mercer finished three shots behind SEC opponent Mississippi State (+34) and ranked ahead of Sacramento State, Rutgers, Toledo, Northern Illinois, Kansas State and Eastern Michigan.

Mercer on Individual Scoreboard
Seniors Terese Romeo and Mary Augusta Janiga led the Bears on the final day in East Lansing. Romeo, who shot a team-low 219 (+3) for the weekend, proved to be Mercer's most consistent golfer over three rounds of play. Janiga shot her best round of the weekend with a 74 (+2) on Sunday to jump 11 spots for a tie at 45th overall.
