Mercer to Face Florida A&M in Home Opener

MACON, Ga. – After opening the season with a seven-match road swing, Mercer will return home and host Florida A&M at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Hawkins Arena.

The match will be played on the main court of Hawkins Arena; the Bears have played on the auxiliary court since 2012. The match will also be broadcasted on ESPN+. For more details on ESPN+, see below. Admission to Mercer volleyball matches remains free of charge.

SCOUTING FLORIDA A&M
A tough start to the 2018 season leaves the Rattlers at 0-6 overall heading into Tuesday's match in Macon. Florida A&M failed to pick up a win at a pair of weekend tournaments, the FIU Invitational and the UT Martin Invitational. Six upperclassmen, including Preseason All-MEAC selections, Valentina Carrasco and Maria Yvett Garcia, lead the team.

SERIES HISTORY
Mercer and Florida A&M have not met in volleyball since 2011, when the two teams split a pair of nonconference home-and-home contests. Florida A&M leads the all-time series, 21-7.

NOTABLES

Mercer is coming off a 1-2 trip to Morehead, Ky., where it swept Saint Francis but dropped a pair of matches to Wright State and Morehead State.
Paige Alsten earned Comfort Inn-Vitational honors for the weekend. She tallied double-digit kills in two matches, including a season-best 16 against Saint Francis, and hit .350 or better twice.
Setters Molly Hackett and Maddie Nunley rank fifth and sixth in the SoCon in assists per set with 7.81 and 7.69, respectively. They are the only teammate duo to rank inside the top 10 in the league.
Alexia Morey has been an immediate impact on Mercer's front line, ranking third in the SoCon in blocks (23). She has tallied at least three in five of seven matches played.
Emily Wissmach has started to hit her groove, tallying 20-plus digs in two of the last three matches, including a career-best 21 against Saint Francis last Saturday.
