The Bears got back in the win column with a 2-0 victory on Thursday night
MACON, Ga.  – The Mercer men's soccer team got back in the win column on Thursday night with a 2-0 victory over Belmont. The shutout is the fourth of the season for Mercer.  Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears (10-6, 2-3 SoCon) and Bruins (3-10-2, 1-3-1 SoCon) looked as if they would go scoreless into halftime, but late in the first half, Ousman Jabang scored his second goal of the year with 47 seconds left in the half. Trevor Martineau and Liam Coxhead assisted on the goal. The Bears outshot the Bruins, 5-1 in the first half.

In the second half, the Bears looked to extend its lead early in the half. Over the first 12 minutes of the half, Mercer had four shots, but only one being on goal, which was saved. Later in the half, Dawson Gideon sent a cross into the box. A Bruins defender came sliding in and kicked the ball into the back of the net for an own goal extending the Bears lead to 2-0.

Belmont was limited to one shot attempt following the second goal. Mercer came away with a 2-0 win.
NOTABLES
The Bears return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 when they host VMI in SoCon action. Saturday, the Bears will honor its senior class and it's also the official stadium dedication. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Â
