Mercer Hosts VMI On Senior Day

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 when they host VMI at Betts Stadium. Before the match, the Bears will honor its three senior members. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

Mercer Athletic Department has announced the official dedication to Betts Stadium for Saturday, Nov. 2. The dedication will take place at 4:45 p.m. at Betts Stadium as we honor the major donors to the stadium project.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer leads the all-time series, 12-0-0, over VMI. The last matchup between the two schools was on Oct. 6, 2018, where the Bears came away with a 2-0 victory in Lexington, Va.

Trevor Martineau ranks first in the SoCon in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, assists, assists per game, and tied for most game-winning goals. He has 25 points in 16 games. He has a SoCon high eight goals and nine assists this season.
Trevor Martineau has tallied 50 points over his two years at Mercer, which is tied for ninth on a career points list.
The nine assists for Martineau is fourth in the nation. Edvin Akselsen, Knut Ahlander, and Tanguy Guerineau lead the nation with 10 assists.
The Bears have the third-best goals-against average in the SoCon. Mercer is only allowing 1.40 goals per game this season. In 16 games, the Bears have only allowed 23 goals.
The Bears have never lost a match to VMI. They are a perfect 12-0 dating back to 2010.

SCOUTING THE KEYDETS
The Keydets enter Saturday's contest with the Bears with a 1-14 mark on the season and 0-5 in the SoCon. VMI is coming off a 3-1 loss to Belmont on Tuesday, Oct. 26. This season, VMI has scored 10 goals in 15 games. They are averaging 0.67 goals per game. Brandon Hornung and Anderson Velazquez led the team with three goals apiece. Three members of the Keydets have two assists each. In goal, Broden Schull who has appeared in net for every minute this season leads the Keydets. He is allowing 2.89 goals per game. VMI has one shutout this season.
