
Men’s Soccer Earns Three All-SoCon Honors

Trevor Martineau, Leo Toledo Jr. and Dylan Gaither were honored by the SoCon
SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – The Mercer men's soccer team had three players honored by the Southern Conference on Wednesday. The Bears Trevor Martineau earned first team honors, while Leo Toledo Jr. was named second team and Dylan Gaither earned all-freshman honors.

This is the second straight season Martineau has earned First Team All-SoCon honors. Martineau led the SoCon and Bears in goals (13), assists (10), and points (36) this season. Against VMI this season, Martineau scored four goals, a career-high in a single contest. His 36 points and 10 assists are fourth in the NCAA and his 13 goals scored are tenth best.

For the second straight season, Toledo Jr. earned All-SoCon honors. This season he was named to the second team. Playing in 17 games for the Bears, he tallied 10 points as he scored three goals and assisted on four. His third goal was the biggest so far this season as it sent the Bears to the SoCon Tournament Championship match.

Earning All-Freshman Team honors this season was Dylan Gaither. Gaither played in 18 matches and has the second most points on the team this season with 13. He has scored five goals and dished out three assists this season. He has scored a goal in the last two matches for the Bears.

Furman led all squads with 11 total players earning postseason recognition, including three players on the all-conference first team. UNCG featured seven players, while ETSU and Wofford each had six. Mercer and Belmont rounded out the squads with three and one selection, respectively.

The league coaches voted on a pair of all-conference teams, an all-freshman team and the four individual awards. They were not allowed to vote for themselves or their own players. The first and second teams include 11 players, voted on by position, while the all-freshman team also consists of 11 players but gives no regard to position.
