Sophomore Trevor Martineau scored four goals in the win for the Bears

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's soccer team honored its three seniors before its match against VMI on Saturday evening, but it was sophomore Trevor Martineau who stole the show. Martineau scored four goals leading the Bears to a 4-1 victory over VMI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Martineau started the scoring less than six minutes into the contest. With 5:27 on the clock, Martineau found the back of the net for his first goal. Liam Coxhead and Leo Toledo Jr. assisted on the goal. Just over 10 minutes later, Martineau scored his second goal of the game. This time Roberto Arteaga and Kareve Richards assisted on the goal. The Bears took the 2-0 lead into halftime as they limited VMI to one shot in the first half.

Eleven minutes into the second half, the Bears added to its lead. Joshua Harrison had a shot go off the crossbar and Martineau controlled the rebound and headed home the Bears third goal of the game. VMI got onto the scoreboard in the 70^th minute of the game when the Bears scored an own goal. With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Martineau added his fourth goal of the game and 12^th of the season. Richards picked up his second assist of the match on Martineau's fourth goal. The Bears came away with a 4-1 victory. The victory is its second straight.

Trevor Martineau scored four goals in the win for the Bears. He now has 12 goals on the season.
The four goals by Martineau are the most he has scored in a single game over his career. His previous high was two.
The Bears outshot the Keydets, 22-2 in the match.
Mercer took 11 corner kicks in the match. The 11 corner kicks tie the most Mercer has taken in a single game this season.
The win for Mercer was its 11^th win of the season.
Kareve Richards led the Bears with two assists in the match.
