SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer and North Carolina have met just once before in history -- before the program's 72-year hiatus from the sport. The Heels came away with a 3-0 victory in that contest in Macon.
HOLDING THE HEELS
Carolina enters this weekend's contest needing wins in its final two games of the season to reach bowl eligibility (vs. Mercer, at NC State).
Â
The Tar Heels boast one of the top passing attacks in the FBS -- ranking 27th and 29th in team passing efficiency and passing offense, respectively. UNC is led by quarterback Sam Howell, who ranks sixth nationally and leads the ACC with 29 passing touchdowns this season.
Â
Defensively, junior linebacker Chazz Surratt leads the conference with 9.5 tackles per game on the year -- he has 95 total tackles.

QUICK HITS
- Saturday's game will mark just the second meeting between Mercer and an ACC school since 2013 -- the previous occurrence came in 2016 when the Bears traveled to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech (L, 10-35).
- Mercer is 6-28 all-time against teams currently in the ACC, winning games against Clemson (3), Wake Forest (2) and Georgia Tech (1).
- The record-setting career of senior safety Eric Jackson will come to a close Saturday. Jackson has 282 career tackles, which ranks second in school history and 16th among active FCS players.
- Bears running back Tyray Devezin enters the final game of the season needing 51 yards to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for the year -- he would be just the second player since the return of a program.
