Bears looking to build off mid-week win at Florida A&M

MACON, Ga. – Mercer will host Alabama A&M in a three-game nonconference series at OrthoGeorgia Park this weekend, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Bears (3-1) are off to a strong start, having won three of four games including a mid-week road contest at Florida A&M on Wednesday. The series will feature one live broadcast for Sunday's finale on the SoCon Digital Network. Batting Practice

All three of Mercer's weekend starting pitchers went at least 4.1 innings last series.
Kevin Coulter leads the nation in saves, having recorded three in four games. He has not allowed a run in his 4.2 innings and three appearances.
Eight different Mercer newcomers have made at least one start during the Bears' first four games.
Freshman Leyton Pinckney notched his first career home run Wednesday at Florida A&M. He joins RJ Yeager and Kel Johnson as the three Bears who have hit home runs this season.
Trevor Austin leads Mercer with six hits. He has two multi-hit performances and at least one hit in all four games this season.
Mercer stole four bases at Florida A&M on Wednesday and is 5-for-7 overall in the category.
Mercer is one of just four NCAA Division I programs to win at least 35 games in each of the past nine seasons, joining LSU, Florida State and Vanderbilt.

Series History
Mercer and Alabama A&M have never met on the baseball diamond. Friday's series opener will be their first head-to-head contest.

Scouting Alabama A&M
The Bulldogs (0-6) are still searching for their first win of the early season entering this weekend's three-game series. After suffering a four-game sweep at the hands of Purdue Fort Wayne to open the season, Alabama A&M dropped two mid-week contests to Auburn on the road.

Alabama A&M is batting .195 (33-for-169) with seven extra base hits and 22 runs through six games played. Its pitching staff is surrendering a .303 batting average against and has allowed 50 runs (39 earned).
