Mercer opens beach volleyball season in Alabama

MACON, Ga. – Mercer kicks off the 2019 beach volleyball season by traveling to Montgomery, Ala. to compete in the Huntingdon College Beach Tournament.

The Bears will take on hosts Huntingdon College on Friday, March 22 at noon before challenging Webber International at 4 p.m. Mercer will close out the tournament on Saturday facing Webber International once more at 9 a.m. before dueling Principia College at 11 a.m.

There will be no live stats provided for the match.

Four upperclassmen - seniors, Elli Gibson and Lela McIntosh and juniors, Abigail Moss and Amber Gibson will lead the Bears this spring.
Newcomers Olivia Boeve (freshman) and Maddie Nunley enter their first beach season.
Josh Marsh enters his first year as assistant coach, while Kate Morrell enters her second alongside head coach, Derek Schroeder.
Mercer will face Principia College and Webster International for the first time in program history.
The Bears last faced Huntingdon College during its startup year (2018), where the Orange and Black walked away with the 5-0 sweep.
Mercer went 9-16 (3-7 ASUN) last season, grabbing wins over Tampa, Florida Southern, Jacksonville and Coastal Carolina (twice).
