
Bears Trip Back Down To Sunshine State For Stetson Spring Fling

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer beach volleyball team will compete in its second tournament of the season at the Stetson Spring Fling in DeLand, Fla. on Feb. 27-28 at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex.

The Bears (1-3) are scheduled for a quartet of matchups over the two-day event, beginning with a Friday morning outing against College of Charleston (0-2). Mercer will then immediately return to the sand to face Eckerd (1-1) at 11:30 a.m. to close out Friday's action and will finish out its portion of round-robin tournament play on Saturday against host Stetson (3-1) and Jacksonville (0-1).Â
The Orange & Black opened up its 2026 season going 1-3 at the Sandy Spartan Showdown in Tampa, Fla. last weekend at the UT Beach Volleyball Complex. The Bears fell to host Tampa and Saint Leo 5-0 on the first day of play. The Bears bounced back the next day to pick up a 4-1 win over Barry but could not top Saint Leo as they fell to the Lions 1-4 to close out their stay in Tampa.

Mercer's pairs 1-4 picked up two-set wins over Barry to push the Bears towards their first win of the season. Kristi Talocka and Grace Rathburn picked up two wins on the weekend, their first win with other partners but their second win came together as Mercer's no. 2 pair against Saint Leo.

Following this weekend's action, the Bears will continue their travels to Jacksonville, Fla. for the UNF Duuuval Duals at The Coop.
