The season-opening matchup pits the Bears against the Catamounts in a rematch of one of the most exciting games of last season.
Â
On October 20 of last year, the two squads met at Five Star Stadium and proceeded to combine for a cool 105 points and 1,282 yards of total offense. The Bears were able to pull away with a 59-46 victory, but not before Catamount starting quarterback Tyrie Adams threw for 360 yards, rushed for 185 and scored four total touchdowns in the game.
Â
SCOUTING WCU
The Catamounts feature one of the most powerful offenses in the Southern Conference. In 2018, WCU finished the year ranked 17th nationally in total offense - and was in the top 30 in both rushing and passing offense.
Â
Led by the explosive Adams at quarterback, the Catamounts displayed a passing efficiency rating of 141.8 last year, good enough for 22nd in all of FCS. Adams threw for over 2,400 yards and rushed for 1,000 more yards in 11 games last season.
