Mercer Welcomes Austin Peay for Home Opener

Bears set to host Governors on “478 Day” Saturday
MACON, Ga. – Mercer football will take the field at Five Star Stadium for the first time in 2019 Saturday, as the Bears play host to Austin Peay on 478 Day. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

GAME DAY EXPERIENCE
478 Day will highlight the local businesses and communities in the Middle Georgia area. Using code "478day", fans will be able to purchase general admission tickets for $4.78, or a $20 ticket package that includes a seat and a "478" hat.
Saturday also marks the kickoff of several new events in the hours leading up to the game – including the Ford Concert Series and the Macon Beer Company Bear Garden. Local artists Ethan Payne (3 p.m.), Floco Torres (4 p.m.) and Molly Stevens (5 p.m.) will take the stage to entertain fans throughout the afternoon.
SCOUTING AUSTIN PEAY
Austin Peay is in its first season under new head coach Mark Hudspeth. Hudspeth spent seven seasons as the head coach at Louisiana before working last season as the Associate Head Coach at Mississippi State.
The Governors opened their season with a 41-10 victory over North Carolina Central in Clarksville before dropping a tough battle to No. 18 Central Arkansas last week. Austin Peay's offense averages 28.5 points per game while its defense allows just 17.0 on average. The Governors have scored five touchdowns through the air compared to just one on the ground this season.

- Mercer received 42 votes in the STATS FCS Top 25 Poll and four votes in the AFCA FCS Coaches' Top 25 Poll this week.
- Mercer's high-powered offense has been clicking on all cylinders this season, as the Bears rank sixth in FCS with an average 47.0 points per game and 15th with 483.5 yards per game in 2019.
- Redshirt sophomore Robert Riddle leads the FCS and is tied for seventh in all of Division I college football with seven passing touchdowns this season.
- Will Coneway surpassed former teammate LeMarkus Bailey for third all-time in total tackles in school history. The senior currently ranks 13th among all active players in the FCS with 225 career tackles.
