Women's Tennis Finishes Strong at Elon

ELON, N.C. – Mercer finished up its first weekend of fall tennis competition of 2019 with more strong showings at the Elon Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday
In singles action, Maeva Roquebert, Alara Hollyfield, Sarah Huynh, Mary Courville and Anna Sovic each won their respective matches. Roquebert def. Olcay of Emory (6-1, 6-2), Hollyfield def. Leeman of Presbyterian (6-3, 6-1), Huynh def. USC-Upstate's Illanes (7-6, 6-2), Courville def. Presbyterian's Beth (1-6, 6-4, 6-1) and Sovic def. Pena of North Carolina Central (6-0, 6-2).

Maeva and Hollyfield teamed up in doubles action to sweep Theylor/Liman of Presbyterian (6-0).

Sunday
On Sunday, Maeva continued her winning ways by beating Elon's Saldh (6-4, 6-3). Hollyfield also kept it going with a win over Camacho from UNCG (6-2, 3-6, 10-1). Sovic also won her Sunday bout (6-3, 2-6, 10-2) and joined Ericka Chavarria to defeat USC-Upstate's Armani/Cevallos (6-1).
