He is originally from Macon.
MACON, Ga. – Javian Mosley signed his National Letter of Intent with the Mercer men's basketball program, head coach Greg Gary announced.
"Our staff is excited to sign Javian," remarked Gary. "He has strong ties to the Macon community and is a skilled guard who can score the basketball. He is athletic and runs the floor well. Not only can he score, but he puts in the effort on the defensive end of the floor to rebound and force turnovers. We are excited to welcome him to the Mercer family."
Mosley grew up in Macon and attended Westside High School for three seasons before transferring to Florida State University Schools in Tallahassee, Fla. for his senior season. The 6-foot-4, 169-pound guard helped Westside to three consecutive 20-win seasons with each campaign leading to a Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state playoff appearance. As a freshman, Mosley led the Seminoles to a 21-11 mark and GHSA 3A Final Four appearance. The following year, the Seminoles won 23 games and lost only seven while advancing to the Sweet 16. Last season, Westside once again advanced to the Sweet 16 and finished the season with a 20-9 mark. In Mosley's three seasons, the Seminoles were an impressive 64-27 overall.
Mosley has been named first team all-region and first team all-state in back-to-back seasons. As a junior, he averaged 21.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. Mosley poured in 18.7 points per game as a sophomore while grabbing nearly six boards (5.6). He more than doubled his scoring average his sophomore season after averaging 8.3 points per game as a freshman. On the AAU circuit, Mosley played for Team Georgia Magic. An A-B Honor Roll student, he desires to major in civil engineering.
The Bears will begin their 2020-21 campaign on Nov. 25 when they host the North Georgia Nighthawks.
