Amoria Neal-Tysor earned her first player of the week nod after posting consecutive 20-point games
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer junior Amoria Neal-Tysor was named the College Sports Madness Southern Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Neal-Tysor has been a scoring machine for the Bears through the early portion of the 2020-21 season, ranking fourth in the country in made 3-pointers (9), 12th in 3-pointers per game (4.5), 15th in made field goals (18), 25th in points scored (45), 26th in assists (10) and 42nd in points per game (22.5). The Sanford, N.C., native's 1.67 assist-turnover ratio and five steals are the most in the SoCon, while her 10 assists are the most for the Bears. She is 18-of-37 (48.6 percent) from the floor through the first two games, including 9-of-19 (47.4 percent) shooting from beyond-the-arc. Â

Neal-Tysor dropped a game-high 22 points against Georgia in the season opener before going for 23 in the win over Tennessee State, marking the first time in her career that she scored at least 20 points in back-to-back games. The junior guard finished 9-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-7 from long range against the Lady Tigers on Saturday while adding a career-high four steals in the contest. Â

Mercer heads out on the road for the first time this season as the Bears travel to Clemson on Wednesday for a 12 p.m. tipoff. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
