
Lane Trudo Elevated to Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports

Trudo promoted after serving as an assistant director since he was hired in April 2019
MACON, Ga. – Lane Trudo was named Mercer's Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports in the fall of 2020 after serving as the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning within Mercer's athletic department. Â

In his new role, Trudo will be responsible for communication and athletic performance operations for assigned teams as well as oversee all day-to-day operations at the University Center athletic weight room. He will continue to enhance the student athlete's strength, flexibility, endurance, speed, power and agility.

Before joining the Mercer staff, Trudo spent two years at Lamar University as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. During his time at Lamar, Trudo designed and implemented all aspects of training for men's and women's basketball and baseball, which included strength and power development, linear and lateral speed, conditioning, mobility and pre-game and practice warm-ups.

While working with those teams, he trained one All-American and saw the women's basketball team win back-to-back Southland Conference Regular Season Championships for the first time in school history. He also assisted in the development of a ninth-round draft pick in the 2018 MLB Draft and two draft picks in 2019.

Before spending two years at Lamar, Trudo spent a year and a half at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. While at William Penn, Trudo helped train four men's basketball All-Americans. He implemented and designed training for men's basketball, baseball and men's soccer. He also oversaw two intern athletic performance coaches.

In Iowa, Trudo spent a year as the head strength and conditioning coach at Oskaloosa High School. While working with Oskaloosa HS, he developed and implemented all aspects of training for all varsity sports. He helped transform the culture of the football program that went 2-7 to 7-2 and an appearance in the state playoffs.

Trudo got his start in strength and conditioning while as an undergraduate student at Kansas State. For two years, he was a strength and conditioning volunteer assistant. He grew from originally working with Olympic sports teams to working with football and Olympic sports.

During the summer of 2015, Trudo spent the summer working as an Athletic Performance Intern with the University of Missouri. With the Tigers, he assisted and implemented strength and power, speed agility and conditioning programs for football and baseball.

He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and a Level 1 Coach through USA Weightlifting.Â

Trudo earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Kansas State University in 2015 and his Masters of Business Leadership from William Penn in 2017.
