The Bears are winners of their last two matches
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team, winners of two consecutive matches, will take on Florida Gulf Coast at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Bears are 3-5 overall and have suffered a loss in just one flight over their past two matches. Mercer earned a 6-1 win over Florida A&M on February 11 before shutting out Alabama A&M, 7-0, last Saturday.
Lauren Rich is the only Bear to reach .500 in singles play thus far. She is 3-3 overall and has played in the No. 4 and 5 positions. In the No. 4 flight, she is 2-2, and she has recorded a 1-1 mark at No. 5. Alara Hollyfield and Anna Sovic are both 3-4 in singles action. As a team, Mercer is 14-29 in singles matches.
Both Hollyfield (0-1) and Maeva Roquebert (2-4) have played in the top flight.
Rich has teamed up with Marie Mottet in doubles action, and the duo is 3-3 in the No. 2 flight and 3-4 overall. Roquebert and Mary Courville boast a .500 (3-3) record in the top flight and are also 3-4 overall.

Florida Gulf Coast enters tomorrow's match with a 2-4 record. The Eagles are 2-2 on their home courts but have gone 0-2 on the road.
In singles action, Alba Retortillo is 4-1 with three of her five matches coming in the No. 5 flight. At No. 5, she is 2-1 overall. Satomi Mamose is 4-2 with wins in both the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Mamose has gone 2-2 in the No. 2 flight but is a perfect 2-0 at No. 3.
Maja Ornberg has played in the top flight in all of FGCU's matches and is 1-5.

Mercer will return to action on Sunday, March 1 when it welcomes Georgia Southern to the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
