Mercer Set to Face No. 3 UNCG in SoCon Semifinals

The Bears and Spartans will clash at 1:15 p.m. on Friday
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's basketball team is headed to the Southern Conference semifinals to square off against No. 3 UNCG at Harrah's Cherokee Center on Friday at 1:15 p.m.
The Bears defeated No. 2 seed Chattanoota, 63-55, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinal round. The semifinal contest will be streamed live on ESPN+ and "Voice of the Bears" Rick Cameron will have the call on the Mercer Sports Network. Fans can tune into the Mercer Sports Network on 100.9 FM The Creek or the SportsMic app.

Mercer enters Saturday's matchup with an alltime record of 12-2 against UNCG, including an 11-2 mark since joining the SoCon.

UNCG won both meetings this season with a 67-51 win in Greensboro on Jan. 30 and a 60-50 victory in Macon six days ago.

In the first meeting this season, UNCG earned its first win against Mercer with a 67-51 decision in Greensboro. Amoria Neal-Tysor scored a gamehigh 18 points in the game, while Shannon Titus added 15 points and five steals.

Scouting the Spartans
No. 3 UNCG opened the SoCon Tournament 57-47 victory over No. 6 ETSU as the final quarterfinal matchup of the day on Thursday. The Spartans shot 44.4 percent (20-of-45) in the game while limiting the Bucs to just 27.6 percent (16-of-58) from the floor. Aja Boyd scored a game-high 20 points and added seven rebounds, while SoCon Player of the Year Nadine Soliman recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. UNCG separated itself from ETSU with some halftime adjustments as the Spartans outscored the Bucs 24-10 in the third quarter.
