
Mercer Outscores Vermont in Sunday Contest

Bears defeat Catamounts 14-12
MACON, GA. – Mercer women's lacrosse defeated the Vermont Catamounts 14-12 Sunday afternoon at Five Star Stadium.
The Catamounts jumped out to a quick lead in the first five minutes. Eva Thorn would get the Bears on the board with two goals in a four-minute time span. Thorn's second goal would start a 5-0 run from the Bears. Hailey Rhatigan, Shannon Urey, and Katie Ryan would score along with Thorn's third goal of the game. Catie Snee would close out the first half scoring for the Black and Orange with an assisted goal from Chloe Schaeffer. The Bears would lead the Catamounts 7-5 at the half.

Vermont tied the game at seven goals apiece with two goals in the first six minutes of the second half. Lily Morin would start a six goal back and forth scoring match. Rhatigan, Thorn, and Schaeffer would add to Mercer's total. Senior Katie Martin would register a goal at the 10:46 mark to give the Bears a two-goal lead. Vermont would tie the game for the seventh time with back-to-back goals. Rhatigan and Morin would record a goal apiece to end the game, 14-12.

Mercer will head to Florida for a pair of games against Jacksonville and Stetson March 20 and March 22.
