Bears Set For Peach State Showdown With Georgia State

Mercer travels to Georgia State for its first matchup against an in-state opponent
MACON, Ga. – Mercer baseball will face its first in-state opponent on Tuesday when it travels to Atlanta to battle Georgia State. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
The Bears face in-state opponents eight time this season. Mercer was scheduled to play Georgia Southern earlier this season but that game was postponed until April 7.

- Mercer pitching was dominate in the three-game set with West Virginia. The Bears' pitchers limited the Mountaineers to 23 hits in the three games. WVU only hit .215 off the Bears' staff while striking out 24.
- In the lone win for the Bears over WVU, Jackson Kelley pitched a gem on Saturday. He lasted a career-high 8.2 innings and struck out five batters. The win for Kelley improved him to 3-0 and lowered his ERA to 0.70.
- Thomas leads Mercer with five home runs. This is the 28th best mark in the country for an individual player. The freshman home run mark at Mercer is 17, which was set during the 2018 season by Le Bassett.
- The Bears have hit 14 home runs this season, which is the 42nd most in the NCAA. Six different Bears have sent a ball over the outfield fence. Thomas leads the team with five and Brandon Michie follows with three bombs.
- Mercer has been hit by 29 pitches this season, including being hit by six in the series against West Virginia. The 29 hit by pitches ranks 13th among all NCAA Division I squads.
- The Bears' pitching staff has shined this season as they have an ERA of 2.54. This is the best mark in the SoCon and is 23rd best in the nation.
