Senior Day: Sachin Khurana

MACON, Ga. – Throughout the month of April, Mercer University athletics will feature each of the seniors who wore the Black & Orange during the shortened spring 2020 season.

The NCAA has indicated that spring sports seniors could receive an extra season of eligibility and return, as the 2020 spring season would have been their final year of competition, all student-athletes representing Bears baseball, softball, men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, beach volleyball and track and field will receive their "Senior Day" this spring.

The senior day spotlight continues with men's tennis' Sachin Khurana.

About Sachin
Sachin Khurana was a four-year member of the men's tennis team. During his senior season, Khurana was named a finalist for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. He was one of only 32 Americans notified of their selection as a Rhodes Scholar in late November.

Throughout his four-year career, Khurana went 7-3 in singles action. During his junior year, he saw limited action. Prior to his senior year being cut short, Khurana was 2-2 in singles action. His two wins came against Alabama A&M and Alcorn State.

In his career, he was 7-5 in doubles action. He was 3-3 in doubles this season and had a perfect 2-0 mark when teaming with Lucas Wayenburg. The duo picked up wins against Alabama A&M and Alcorn State.

Coach's Thoughts
"It was great seeing a local Stratford product come in and make such an impact," said head coach Eric Hayes. "Academically, Sachin has shown he is in elite company. He won numerous awards and this past year one of very few student athletes around the country to make it to final cut for Rhodes Scholarship. He took advantage of opportunities he had on the court."
