Kayla Potts played on Mercer’s women’s basketball team from 2014-18
MACON, Ga. – We all know about the great accomplishments that Mercer student-athletes have achieved during their time as a Bear, but what are they up to after they graduate? Today, we take a look inside former Mercer women's basketball player Kayla Potts and her career after Mercer.
Potts played on the women's basketball team from 2014-18 and was a member of Mercer's first Southern Conference Championship team. The Rex, Ga., native scored 302 points in her 114-game career, in addition to collecting 265 rebounds and dishing out 90 assists. Potts added 85 steals and 16 blocks in her time as a Bear.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM YOUR TIME WITH MERCER BASKETBALL?
It is very difficult to choose my favorite memory out of 4 years playing with Mercer women's basketball. The most memorable would be winning Mercer's first championship in the SoCon Tournament in 2018 and playing in the NCAA tournament. That experience was the best by far with the record we had of 30-3 overall.
Â
FOR SOME BACKGROUND, WHAT WAS YOUR MAJOR AT MERCER?
Sports Marketing and Analytics – Business Administration
Â
HAVE YOU EARNED ANY ADDITIONAL DEGREES (MASTERS, PHD, CERTIFICATES) ETC. SINCE GRADUATING?
After graduating in 2018, I applied and completed Mercer's full-time, 1-year accelerated MBA program on the Atlanta campus. I was also fortunate to complete my degree on a Mercer on Mission trip to Rwanda and enjoyed that experience as well.
Â
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE SINCE GRADUATING? (LIFE, CAREER ETC.)
While I was finishing my MBA program, I started an internship with the WNBA Atlanta Dream in February 2019. Once I came back from my Mercer on Mission trip and graduated, I became a full-time staff as an Account Executive with the WNBA Atlanta Dream as of June 2019.
Â
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS FOR THE COMING YEARS?
My goals and aspirations are to continue to be the best in all that I do. Make great connections and network with people in the sports world to move up.
Â
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?
Honestly, I have not thought that far in advance in where I see myself. I would like to stick around with basketball as long as possible. I do not know where I see myself exactly because life changes and does not always go as planned so I am focus and living in the now to prepare my future when it comes. The ultimate goal in life is to do well in everything I am doing and to not become complacent.
