Taylor Lobus was a member of the Bears since 2016
MACON, Ga. – Throughout the month of April and May, Mercer University athletics will feature each of the seniors who wore the Black & Orange during the shortened spring 2020 season.
The NCAA has indicated that spring sports seniors could receive an extra season of eligibility and return, as the 2020 spring season would have been their final year of competition, all student-athletes representing Bears baseball, softball, men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, beach volleyball and track and field will receive their "Senior Day" this spring.

About Taylor
Taylor Lobus joined the bears as a freshman for the 2016 season. During his freshman season, He made the fourth-most appearances on the staff with 26. He went 3-3 with a 6.74 ERA over 44 innings pitched. He finished tied for third on the team with three saves. He earned his first career win with two shutout innings and four strikeouts against Xavier on Feb. 26, 2016.

Lobus redshirted during the 2017 season but returned to the mound during the 2018 season. He logged seven innings of relief over eight appearances and did not earn a decision.

In the 2019 season, Lobus threw 20.0 innings on the season in 15 games as a reliever. During the SoCon Tournament, he provided heroics that helped Mercer to the SoCon Title. He earned a pair of relief performances vs ETSU (May 25) and Wofford (May 26). He went 2-0 on the season.

During his senior season, Lobus moved from the pen to a starter. Before the season was cut short, Lobus had made four starts and held a 1-0 record. He picked up his lone win of the 2020 season on March 1 against UT Martin. He pitched 19 innings on the year and limited opponents to hit .197.

Coach's Thoughts
"Taylor has been a great teammate and player for us since he arrived on campus," stated head coach Craig Gibson. "He has battled back from injury to earn a weekend starting rotation spot. He was a key piece that helped us get out to a great starts. We are excited that Taylor has decided to come back next season. He will always be a Bear."
