MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears volleyball team will kick off their spring season in Bowling Green, Ky. with a double header against Western Kentucky and Bellarmine on Sunday.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first match-up between Mercer and Bellarmine. The last meeting between the Bears and the Hilltoppers was back in 2005, with the Hilltoppers taking the match in straight sets to even the series at one each.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
The Hilltoppers finished the fall 2020 season with a 1-0 record. Their lone win came against UAB in straight sets. Junior Lauren Matthews led the Hilltoppers with 14 kills, followed by sophomore Paige Briggs with 11. Western Kentucky welcomes four new faces to the squad this season. The Hilltoppers are led by head Coach Travis Hudson who enters his 26^th season at the helm.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Bellarmine finished the 2019 season with a 20-11 overall record, 10-5 in the conference. The Knights welcome three new faces to the team. Sophomore outside hitter, Jayme Scott, led the team in points (489.5) and kills (449). Senior Kristen O'Toole led with 993 assists in 2019. Jenni Grzebin enters her eights season at the helm of the Knights.

NOTABLES

Mercer welcomes two new faces to the spring roster. Transfers Taylor Lynch from Illinois State and Agneiska Paskevic from New Orleans
Five Bears recorded double-digit kills in the three fall matches. Annie Karle (40), Brittany Major (36), Malia Randolph (22), Rayanne de Oliveira (20), and Jaida Howell (18).
Rayanne's eight aces in the fall ranked fifth in the nation for aces per set with 0.62.
