Bears to visit UNCG in battle of SoCon's top two
MACON, Ga. – For the second time in league play, the SoCon-leading Mercer men's soccer team will be on the road, this time against the UNCG Spartans, who are ranked second behind the Bears. Both sides bring will bring undefeated league marks into the showdown.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
The Bears and Spartans will meet for the 19th time in history, and UNCG holds the 10-6-2 advantage. In March, the two sides drew in the last matchup, at one goal apiece in Betts Stadium. Just three months ago, Dylan Gaither notched an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute, only to be answered with a goal by UNCG's Matthew Cutler in the waning seconds of the match to force extra time. These two have split the last five meetings – 2-2-1. Â
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Mercer fell to the Big South's Winthrop by a 3-1 scoreline on Tuesday night in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Chad Eldridge's goal in the 75th minute was his first-career goal and he was assisted by Baba Agbaje. Sophomore keeper, Trevor McMullen, has posted two SoCon shutouts in 200 minutes between the woodwork.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG comes into the match with a six-game unbeaten streak, which includes a 3-1 win over No. 2 Clemson, that lone goal allowed to the Tigers is the only one the Spartans have conceded in their current stretch. Theo Collomb paces the Spartan attack with eight goals and three assists while Mani Austmann is right behind Collomb with seven goals and four assists to his credit. In their only SoCon game, they took out VMI in a 7-0 romp which was highlighted by a hat trick from Collomb.
