Mercer completes Furman sweep
Macon, Ga. – The Mercer Bears down the Furman Paladins in three straight.  "I am very happy with a very strong week from our team," said head coach Dex Schroeder. "Our execution is starting to improve and we are finding our fast style. Excited for a full week of practice on some skill and execution leading into the second half of SoCon season."  The sweep tonight makes it the fourth in a row. The Bears have currently won all of their last six games.
MERCER VS. FURMAN

Set One (25-16)Â | A kill from Annie Karle would start the first set. A few errors would give Furman their first two points but a 4-0 run from the Bears immediately followed which included kills from Rayanne de Oliveira and Megan Smith, 5-2. The Paladins would go on two separate runs of three and two to take a one-point lead before a block by Jaida Howell tied the set, 7-7. The Bears would score an additional three points following the block with a kill from Major and additional block from Howell and Major to take a three-point lead, 10-7. The teams would trade points back-and-forth keeping the game within two, 15-13. In the last half of the set the Bears would go on three separate runs of three. The first run started with a block from de Oliveira and Lynch followed by a kill from Lynch and a kill from Major putting the Bears up by five, 18-13. The next run of three started with a kill from Major and ended with a block by Paskevic and Howell extending the bear lead to seven, 22-15. The last run of three started by a kill by Karle and ended in a service ace from Smith, set point.
Set Two (25-15)Â | A kill from Taylor Lynch would start the second set. Points would be traded back-and-forth between the teams which included kills from the de Oliveira (3), Howell (2), Major (2), Lynch (1) and Karle (1). With a four- point lead, 13-9, the Bears would go on a 5-0 Â run, which started with back-to-back kills from Howell. Within this run, Howell also recorded a block with Paskevic. The run would end on a kill by Major, 18-9. The Paladins would go on a 6-1 run but the Bears would answer with a 6-0 run of their own to close the set. All of the last six points recorded were from kills by Major (1), de Oliveira (3), Karle (1), and Paskevic (1).
Set Three (25-5)Â | The third set started with a kill from Karle. This kill would be the first point of a 16-1 run. Within this run, Karle and Lynch recorded two kills each. Major and de Oliveira recorded one of their own. Lynch and Mykole Morgan each recorded a block while de Oliveira recorded two. A ball handling error would end the Bears run but a run of 5-1 immediately followed which started with a kill from Morgan and ended with a kill from Emma Jose, 21-3. Morgan would record an additional kill before a 3-0 run lead by Karle and finished by de Oliveira would give the Bears set three and the match.
