Mercer defeats Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.  – The Mercer volleyball team keeps their conference winning streak with a three-set victory over Chattanooga.
"We are all pretty happy with the weekend sweep and are looking forward to this last week in the first half of the conference," said Head Coach Dex Schroeder.
MERCER VS. CHATTANOOGA

Set One (25-23)Â | A kill from Annie Karle would get the Bears on the board to start the first set. A few points would be traded before a 3-0 run from the Bears put them in the lead by three, 5-2. Chattanooga answered recording six straight points to take a three-point lead, 9-6. At most, the Bears trailed by six, 20-14 but would not stop fighting. A 3-0 run which started with a kill from Paige Wagers kept the Bears within three, 20-17. After giving the Mucs an additional point, a 4-0 run tied the game at 21. That run started with a block by Agnieska Paskevic and Paige Wagers and was followed by a kill from Karle and ace from Megan Smith. A block by Rayanne de Oliveira and Karle tied the game again at 22. The Bears closed the set on a run of three with a kill by de Oliveira and two from Taylor Lynch.
Set Two (25-13)Â | A kill from Karle would get the Bears on the board again to start the second set. An immediate run of five allowed the Bears to lead by four, 7-3. This run included a kill from Brittany Major, a block from Paige Wagers, and an ace from Lexi Uhrhan. Separate runs of two and four, respectively, kept the Bears in the lead by seven, 13-6. Major, Wagers, Karle each recorded kills, Smith registered an ace, and de Oliveira and Karle paired together on a block. After two-points by Chattanooga, Mercer would score six answered points, 19-8. Paskevic recorded an ace, Karle and De Oliveira a block, and Lynch and De Oliveira recorded kills. Mercer's last six points would be by kills from de Oliveira and Lynch (2). Uhrhan finished set two with an ace.
Set Three (25-22)Â | The Bears came out strong in the third set with a 4-0 run to start. The Bears held on to their lead until a 4-0 from from the Mucs made it a one-point game, 13-12. Kills from Karle, de Oliveira (2), and Lynch would put the Bears up by four, 18-14. The Mucs would go on a run of four to tie the game at 19 before the Bears answer led with a 4-0 run of their own. De Oliveira would score the first two points of this run with a kill and ace and Lynch ended the run with a kill, 23-19. The Mucs would go on a final run of three to put them within one, 23-22 but a kill from Major and an error would give the Bears the set and the match.
