
Mercer Sweeps The Citadel in Sunday Matchup

Bears stretch their winning streak to four
MACON, GA.  – The Mercer Bears Volleyball continued their winning streak to four with a three set sweep of The Citadel on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Jaida Howell matched her career high 14 kills in the match. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
Set One (25-23) | The Bears and Bulldogs started the set trading points back and forth. Agnieska Paskevic opened the scoring for the Bears with a service ace. Annie Karle, Taylor Lynch, and Rayanne de Oliveira added to the total, each recording a kill. The Citadel would go on a 7-0 run to take a 10-6 lead. The Black and Orange clawed their way back to tie the game with a 10-4 run. Jaida Howell led the Bears with three kills during the run. Lynch would end the set for the Bears with a kill.Â

Set Two (25-15) | Mercer started the second set hot, taking an early 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs would cut the Bears lead to one, but Mercer would go on an 8-3 run to grow their lead. Brittany Major would start the run with kill. Taylor Lynch and Annie Karle would also contribute to give Mercer a four-point lead. The Black and Orange would continue to dominate the second set. Malia Randolph would register two kills to help end the set for Mercer.Â

The Citadel would make a comeback and tie the game at 17 each. A kill and a block from Rayanne de Oliveira would give the Bears a 19-17 lead. The Citadel would come within one, 23-24, but the Bears would take the set and match
